About Gary

Gary NockSo, the biography bit, well, I am an acoustic singer-songwriter hailing from Walsall in the West Midlands originally. I moved south as a 4 year old and grew up in the sleepy seaside town of Dawlish in Devon. I only first picked up a guitar at 17 years old so, somewhat of a late starter i guess. After a few quick lessons from a friend I borrowed an old Nylon stringed Spanish Guitar and locked myself away in my bedroom and began noisily strumming and singing my way through book after book of classic songwriters and groups, including The Beatles, The Kinks, Roy Orbison, Tracy Chapman, The Jam and Leonard Cohen to name but a few. Somehow I also managed to teach myself to sing.

After a couple of years, I ventured out and began playing in public wherever I could, starting with little performances in the Pubs around Devon just doing old Beatles covers and stuff. Eventually I started to write my own songs - At the age of about 24 I decided to move back to the city where I was born to try and make something of all the years of practice. Based in my old home town, I began touring the country, singing and playing to all sorts of crowds all over Britain from Edinburgh to Brighton.

I signed a publishing deal with P and P Songs, in July 2007, since then I have been co-writing with various writers and producers from across the globe and also have been fortunate enough to support some great acts along the way including - Newton Faulkner, Ed Harcourt, Kate Walsh, Jamie Scott and Tina Dico as well as many others. I continue to tour up and down the country on a regular basis, playing as much as possible. I now regularly gig with a full band as well as still continuing with my solo shows. I have a record coming out really soon so sign up to the mailing list to keep up to date with it all.

I hope you enjoy the music, or at least get a little something out of it. Thanks for reading.

Much love

Gary
